WORDCRAFT OF OREGON

RELAUNCH OF 2006

After a three-year hiatus, Wordcraft of Oregon has restructured as a limited liability company to serve those writers of exceptional merit whose work is of lasting value but falls outside the commercial norm.

Wordcraft of Oregon was founded in 1988 as an outgrowth of Ice River Magazine, a journal of the fantastic in literature. Wordcraft's Speculative Writers Series published twenty-five books by visionary authors whose work attracted much critical acclaim. With its relaunch in 2006, Wordcraft of Oregon, LLC, will broaden its range of literary interest, no longer limited to speculative work, but still looking for the rare gem that will define a whole new era of small press publishing.

"Wordcraft of Oregon is one of the more underrated presses not only for science fiction, but of literature in general."

— Rain Taxi Online, Fall 2003

"Wordcraft is doing exactly what a small/alternative press should be doing: putting into print literate, innovative fiction that falls outside the commercial norm, from writers who are trying interesting things in intelligent ways."

—Steve Moore, Dalkey Archive Press

Wordcraft of Oregon, LLC, believes a broad range of literature can be offered affordably and profitably to both new and experienced readers. Our various editions, from first trade paperbacks, in print editions of 500–1500 copies, to smaller locally-produced in-house saddle-stitched and perfectbound editions, allow us to test an audience with new voices while providing more established writers with an alternative to the commercial houses.
