WORDCRAFT SERIES OF FABULIST NOVELLAS

Beginning August 2014, Wordcraft of Oregon started a new series of fabulist novellas. We hope to publish 2-4 titles a year. The first three titles will be monster double features by Peter Grandbois. Each double feature will include two novelet/novellas. We are looking to publish double features up to 40,000 or single novellas up to 40,000 words. Fabulist refers to a range of work in a literature of the fantastic that often blur the boundaries between genres but revolve around some element of the fantastic, that element may be the result of science, psychology or otherworld encounters, but the style should be literary and original.

If you have a fabulist novella or double feature of novelets or combo of novelet and novella, please query editor before submitting (editor@wordcraftoregon.com).

MAMA & THE HUNGRY HOLE by Johanna DeBiase

#4 IN THE WORDCRAFT SERIES OF FABULIST NOVELLAS

"DeBiase's exquisitely crafted debut novella straddles a line between magical realism and metaphorical truth in a story that explores ties among three generations of women, the persistence of innocence even in the most desperate of childhoods, and the transformative power of stories and dreams...DeBiase's storytelling, both in the overall narrative and in the actual tales her characters tell, deftly excavates the beauty in brokenness and the strange sweetness in sorrow."

--PUBLISHERS WEEKLY (June 2015)

THE GIRL ON THE SWING & AT NIGHT IN CRUMBLING VOICES by Peter Grandbois

#3 IN THE WORDCRAFT SERIES OF FABULIST NOVELLAS

A DOUBLE MONSTER FEATURE (TWO NOVELLAS)

"It's insightful storytelling at its best...easily Grandbois' darkest yet--and the author is only growing more confident and capable, wielding sci-fi tropes like blades to cut to the heart of our doubts and fears."

-- Glenn Dallas, SAN FRANCISCO BOOK REVIEW

THE GLOB WHO GIRDLED GRANVILLE & THE SECRET LIVES OF ACTORS by Peter Grandbois

#2 IN THE WORDCRAFT SERIES OF FABULIST NOVELLAS

A DOUBLE MONSTER FEATURE (TWO NOVELLAS)

HONORABLE MENTION FOR INDIE FAB AWARD FOR BEST ADULT FANTASY BY AN INDEPENDENT OR UNIVERSITY PRESS FOR 2014 (Read More)

"Extraordinary characters in ordinary situations prompt wry philosophical speculations about everyday life and longings in this pair of novellas laced with tropes from sci-fi B movies...Although Grandbois (Domestic Disturbances) endows his characters with some otherworldly attributes, he renders them believably human through their self-doubts and amusing foibles. His clever, sympathetic depiction of the men inside the monsters will appeal to a wide range of readers."

-- PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

WAIT YOUR TURN & THE STABILITY OF LARGE SYSTEMS  by Peter Grandbois

#1 IN THE WORDCRAFT SERIES OF FABULIST NOVELLAS

A DOUBLE MONSTER FEATURE (TWO NOVELLAS)

"Eerie stories harkening back to the grand old tales of The Twilight Zone will thrill as they entertain...the writing is so good it goes beyond genre."

-- ForeWord Reviews
